CONDIGN, adjective [Latin , worthy. See [[Dignity]].]

1. Deserved; merited; suitable; applied usually to punishment; as, the malefactor has suffered condign punishment.

2. Worthy; merited; as condign praise.

[In the latter sense, seldom used.]
